CareSense is a powerful system that facilitates communication between patients and their clinicians. Using handheld devices, phone calls, and emails, your organization can collect valuable data from patients without requiring additional staff labor.

Initial Visit
On average, patients spend over 15 minutes in the waiting room before being seen by their physician. CareSense makes efficient use of this downtime by interacting with the patients while they wait. Following the typical office check-in, patients are introduced to the CareSense system by the front office staff. The patient is then given an iPad or iPod Touch and asked to complete the survey. While the content of each survey can vary, the following data is typically collected:
- Consent to contact the patient outside of the office
- The patient's preferred method of follow up (email or phone)
- Relevant outcomes questions to establish a baseline of health
- Any pertinent marketing or patient satisfaction questions
Typical surveys last around 5 minutes. Upon completion, the device is returned by the patient to the front desk and is ready for the next patient.

Treatment Importation
Diagnosis and treatment data is an important aspect of any data collection effort. CareSense makes the process of acquiring and organizing this data incredibly easy. Through a secure transfer on www.caresense.com, the system accepts a weekly summary of your claims data, an output from your EMR system, or any other file type that contains patient treatment information. Treatments can also be manually entered into the system if necessary.
Once the data is loaded into CareSense, each patient's diagnosis and treatment is automatically linked to the data that was collected during the initial visit.

Follow Up
CareSense collects follow-up data from patients at predetermined intervals. The system intelligently controls what questions to ask each patient based on the diagnosis and treatment information previously imported. CareSense collects follow-up data in using the following three methods:
- Patients come back to the office for a follow-up visit and answer questions on iPads or iPod Touches while waiting to see their physician. This process is identical to the initial office visit.
- Patients receive emails at predetermined intervals and provide information through a patient portal.
- Patients provide information via an automated phone survey.
If follow-up data is collected from a patient at the office, CareSense will not contact them outside the office during that interval. To increase compliance, CareSense can also attempt to contact a patient multiple times if no response is initially received.

Through a secure login at www.caresense.com, administrators and clinicians can analyze all outcomes, marketing and patient satisfaction data that has been collected. The website offers a sophisticated suite of reports, queries, and tools that provide both individual and aggregate reporting capabilities.
All reports offered through CareSense are configurable and can be customized to meet your organization's needs. If more in-depth analysis is required, CareSense makes it easy to download your information as a Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, or text based document.
