CareSense is a powerful data collection system that eliminates the need to use paper forms. Using a combination of iPads, emails, and online data entry, CareSense can help your organization with its research needs.

Getting Started

CareSense makes it easy for your organization to begin collecting data. Simply send us a document containing your study protocol and our team will transfer each question and answer onto the iPad in the format of your choosing. If you don’t have a specific protocol on hand, our company can work with your organization to create a study that will achieve your goals.

In addition to transferring your study to the iPad, our company can also help your team with other aspects of the data collection effort:

• Setting up study intervals and automated email follow-up
• Training data collection sites
• Importing legacy data
• Generating custom reports

Data Collection

Following the set up of a study, our team will provide each data collection site with the iPads it needs for proper data collection. If desired, we can also send a representative to each study site to train the staff and install the system.

Collecting data on iPads with CareSense is fast, efficient, and secure. The software transfers data in real-time when online, and supports offline data collection if no internet connection is present. Each iPad can be individually configured to your organization’s specifications, and the devices can be updated remotely at any time. The software that runs on the iPads uses 128-bit encryption to ensure that all data is transferred securely.

If a patient fails to return to the office for a follow up visit, CareSense can email them a survey to capture the missing information. Patients can also be emailed appointment reminders, instructions, or letters of appreciation for participating in the study.

The CareSense team has extensive experience importing electronic data from external data sources. Over the past 8 years, we have imported:

• Legacy outcomes data collected during previous studies
• Periodically generated implant billing data
• Proprietary databases created by medical device companies
• Data from EMR exports

CareSense specializes in linking this imported data to the clinical data collected from the patient and clinician.

Reports

CareSense offers a number of custom reports and statistical tools to help users analyze their data. These reports have been developed through many years of helping medical companies conduct clinical studies and can be customized, saved, and exported. The following screenshot shows an example of overall patient improvement for patients undergoing knee surgery.

All data that is collected can also be filtered, sorted, and searched using a powerful query tool. Data can also be exported into either Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, or a custom format requested by your organization. The screenshot below shows a section of the output of the querying tool.

If CareSense does not have either the reports or export tools that your organization needs, the CareSense team can also build custom tools to ensure you are getting the data that you need.
